Thanks for visiting our blog. We are a married couple living in Port-au-Prince Haiti and serving with World Concern, a Christian development organization. Martha and I (Austin) met while volunteering together at a backpacker hostel in the amazing city of Amsterdam. Quite romantic sounding, I know. It was in Amsterdam that we discovered our shared interest in travel, living intentionally, working cross-culturally, coffee, community development, and God.
Through a variety of experiences at home and abroad, we have developed a passion for connecting with and serving the poor. Haiti first came on our radar in the fall of 2011 and since then our fascination with this place and its’ people has only increased.
Our role with World Concern involves communicating about the work our organization is doing in three primary areas: economic development, health, and disaster disk reduction. Basically, we get to spread the word about how World Concern is impacting lives in Haiti! We do this using storytelling, photography, video, design, social media, word of mouth, and any ways we may discover. Additionally we hope to encourage and strengthen our colleagues both professionally and spiritually.
It is an honor to live and serve in Haiti. Our goal is to portray Haiti and its’ people with dignity and respect. We try our best to do this accurately and honestly. Thank you for taking time to read our blog and most of all for your interest in Haiti!
Martha and I rely on the generosity of folks like you to serve in Haiti. If you are interested in supporting our ministry financially you may do so here.
